WHAT DOES “NARAAI APPROVED PLANET POSITIVE” MEAN?

The Naraai Approved Butterfly mark promotes innovative solutions & responsible production practices that are better for the people and nature. It amplifies and reinforces the beneficial impacts of responsible consumer choices - from farms and forests, to manufacturing units, all the way to the super market or e-commerce check-out point. Our Butterfly Mark allows you to recognize and choose products that contribute toward a better future for people and planet.

When you see our Butterfly Mark on a product, you’re probably aware it signifies something positive -But it’s much more than that. The seal unveils the pillars on which the brands’ activities and material choices have been vetted - social, enviornmental & economic development studied as an interlinked impact on earth.

THE BUTTERFLY MARK CERTIFICATION PROJECT

Our stamp means that the certified product, service or ingredient (input product) is produced using methods that support the three pillars of sustainability or the use of the product or service objectively promotes the key tenants of sustainability in comparison to its generic counterpart. The three pillars on which we assess holistic sustainability performance of a company's product are - social development, economic development, and environmental outputs &outcomes. Independent, third-party auditors (including other certifications) as well as self reported data is evaluated to assess that evaluate farmers & farmland, climate & biodiversity, human rights & livelihoods are protected & secured before renewing or granting the certificate. Our data-informed certification programs emphasize a commitment to continuous improvement, sustainability training, and clear benefits the planet.

  • Farmlands & Forests: are ecological powerhouses and are critical to the survival of every living being on Earth. certification program assesses whether business & supply chain activities promote best practices for protecting standing forests, preventing the expansion of cropland into forests; fostering the health of trees, soils, and waterways; and protecting native forests.
  • Climate & Other Biodiversity measures: Standing forest, wetlands &other sensitive yet powerful ecological assets are key protectors of climatic stability. Our assessment focuses on measuring the impact &aiding methods that restore, rehabilitate & regenerate these assets and reduce total emissions through embedde sustainble practices. The climate-smart practices embedded in our agricultural training and certification programs help farmers & businesses dependent on farming to build resilience to droughts, flooding, and erosion.
  • Livelihoods: Our approach is based on the understanding that ecosystem health and the economic stability of rural communities are mutually dependent. Improving sustainable livelihood opportunities for smallholder farmers and forest communities, fair trade manufacturing processes & aligned economic activities by the brand is the most effective way to lift rural people out of poverty. We help the consumers of our businesses see the last mile impact generated to the forests & the communities through the products they purchase.
